Here are a few of the items I made at quilt retreat this year... Perhaps I better start calling it purse retreat! :-)
The first picture here is a Clutter Bug Bag (by This and That). This is a cute, little scrappy bag with a zipper. Don't be scared of zippers, they aren't that bad! :-) I thought this would make a cute cosmetic or toiletry bag. The buttons were covered with one of the same fabrics on the purse. This is a really cool product from Dritz (see them here). The buttons were easy to construct and I look forward to using them for more projects.
Next is Lisa's Photo Bag (by Designs by KC). It is hard to see in this picture But this bag has one clear pocket on one side and 3 smaller clear pockets on the other so you can display your pictures (the picture in this pocket is one of my puppies Levi). You can simply slide whichever pictures you want in the pockets and display them with pride! While constructing the part of the bag where the picture pockets are was a bit putzy, it was pretty easy. Kathy (the 'K' in Designs by KC) writes great directions for beginners. This bag also has pockets on the inside. The pattern is similar to the one I used for Parker's Diaper Bag.
Finally, this last picture is my favorite. The pattern is called Birdie Sling (by Amy Butler). This purse is big and roomy, with two pockets inside. Katie and I both made this purse at quilt retreat. The pattern directions were a bit awkward but I figure it out. I would, however, hate to be a beginner and try to follow it I think. I love this bag and the fabric that came in a kit I bought. Katie, you should post a picture of yours too! Her fabriccs are very pretty too.

Since it is going to be such a busy Winter, I decided instead of making my own Christmas cards this year (you can see last year's here), I would order some photo cards online... After doing lots of reading and exploring, I finally found a card designed I really liked (because it matched the picture I had) at Cards Direct, so I placed my order! I will let you all know how well they turn out and how good this company is to work with.
I already have plenty of wallet pictures of Joey to include with the cards, since I have all of his senior pictures. Since I had a ton of pictures of Katie and Josh, I figured I would get a couple of their engagement pictures printed into wallets to include. I did not want to leave Chris out so I snapped - to his surprise - a picture of his at the cabin this weekend and just placed an order for wallets today. I ordered all of these from MPix (I talked about them before in this post).
I cannot recommend this company enough. Not only are their prints top quality, they are fast! I placed my order for wallets on Friday at about 11:30 am and they arrived in the mail today! Unbelieveable turn around!
Okay now, I must get back to work. :-)
Boy, it has been way too long since I posted on this blog… I guess it is an attestment to how busy life has been lately! Now, I am trying to catch up on work after a great, week-long trip to Camp Lebanon for quilt retreat. I made 2 quilts, a wall hanging, and a few purses. Katie came too and got quite a few pages made for her Engagement scrapbook - all awesome! I will get some pictures snapped and get them posted. I promise! :-)
